# About Learn About Pearls

## Who publishes Learn About Pearls

Learn About Pearls is published by Unique Pearl, a pearl jeweler based in Great Neck, New York. Unique Pearl sells pearl jewelry at uniquepearl.com. Learn About Pearls is the publisher’s reference site, and it is kept separate from the shop.

## Why Unique Pearl publishes a pearl reference

Unique Pearl publishes Learn About Pearls because people who understand pearls make better decisions, whether they buy from us or not. The questions people ask about pearls deserve plain, sourced answers: how pearls form, how the main types differ, what grades mean, how to tell real pearls from imitations, and how to care for them.

## How Learn About Pearls is paid for

Unique Pearl pays for the site. Learn About Pearls carries no advertising, no paid placements and no affiliate links. A small number of pages link to the Unique Pearl shop where buying is the natural next step. Each of those links says, in the same sentence, that Unique Pearl publishes this guide.

## How editorial decisions are made

Education comes first. Topics are chosen by what people ask about pearls most often, and every number and date is cited to a source. Learn About Pearls never ranks or reviews sellers and never uses the publisher’s prices as market benchmarks. The full rules, including how AI assistance is used and how pages are reviewed, are in the [editorial policy](https://learnaboutpearls.com/editorial-policy/).

## Who writes and reviews the pages

Pages are written by the Learn About Pearls editors, with AI assistance in research and drafting. Every claim is checked against its cited source, and a named person reviews each page before it is published. Each page shows who reviewed it and when.
